I know I'm very late to seeing this, but I stumbled across this post from a google search after watching 'Don't Cry' and being brought to tears, and I have to say it really echoed my views on this. It helps explain why I like Game Changer so much, being the rare show which really does exude genuine empathy and kindness (something that's sorely needed in recent times) - thank you for writing this, it was a lovely read!
Thanks, Ethan! I agree, watching Game Changer feels good because it’s so hopeful when everything else feels a little hopeless. Did you watch the latest season’s premiere yet?
loveddd this piece so much, shailee. game changer is also my favorite game show – shoot, dare i say, my favorite *show* period – and this piece hit on so many reasons why it's just so, so good
that "core of silly kindness" describes the show so well. that's really at its heart. anything that is even remotely cruel is always ironic and is always couched in a silly kindness.
and *ugh*. don't cry is such– i teared up at that episode. i said all the same things you said after i watched it: *this* is why i love this show. *this* is why i watch this
holding space for u, too, post-breakup. i know i'm coming to this piece long after you wrote it, and long after you mentioned that breakup, though. even so, i trust that game changer has held u in all the kindest and warmest ways as you went, or are going, through it
Thank you so much, Zachariah! I really appreciate your comment. And luckily I’m farrr on the other side of that breakup, and you’re right that silly kindness like Game Changer got me through it :)
